Sign Interpretations
Cancer – Sign Interpretation
Cancer is the fourth astrological sign in the Zodiac originating from the constellation of Cancer. It is a yin sign or alternatively ‘feminine’ or ‘negative’ sign, meaning it is more introverted. It is considered a water sign, and is one of four cardinal signs.
Those born under this sign are the most sensitive in the zodiac. Well aware of their vulnerability, Cancerians are most concerned to build around them the secure shell of family and domestic life. Nurturing others is the raison d’être of this sign. Home life is sacred and the Cancer individual will be devoted, sympathetic and absolutely loyal to his or her loved ones. As they have so much invested in other people, they can be very clinging and possessive. These people are quite demanding of others and will resort to manipulation to get their own way.
Ruled by the Moon, Cancer is the most moody and changeable sign. They find it difficult to face up to the harsh realities of life, preferring to live in the world of their imagination. Cancerians are also very good at living in the past. They have wonderful memories and are very sentimental about them. Their roots – family, community and country – are extremely important. The study of history is very appealing and Cancerians will often be avid collectors of antiques. They do need to avoid living in the past and fretting over every unpleasant old memory. Worry is very disruptive to a Cancerian as emotional upsets lead to stomach problems almost immediately.
If it is, for whatever reason, possible for a Cancerian to establish a family life, all of their nurturing qualities will be used in the outside world to great effect in medicine, therapy, hotel work or cooking. Their considerable creative energy may be used in music, art or literature. Cancerians would do well to develop some of the qualities of the opposite sign of Capricorn – self-reliance and practical determination.
Water Signs
In astrology a water sign refers to any of the signs Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces.
Characteristics
Water signs are believed to often possess a much more penetrating insight into the true nature of other people than other zodiac signs; they are supposed to be remarkable in their ability to judge people.
Water signs are seen as sensitive (often hypersensitive) people, and to possess a great desire to help others. Although they are not seen as intellectually weak, water signs are occasionally referred to as mute signs because they supposedly rely so much on nonverbal communication rather than direct discussion.
At their worst, water signs are supposed to be withdrawn, secretive, overly vague, possessive, and pessimistic, often withdrawing into their own private world rather than facing difficulties.
They can also be greatly empathic, sensitive to the feelings & needs of others, and masterful healers due to their awareness of energy, feeling & intuitive natures. They are often considered the psychic signs.
Cancer – Relations With Other Element Signs
Water signs are seen as being complementary to the earth signs who provide them with the stability that they need to develop, whilst the water signs allow the earth signs to work more effectively.
Although water signs are often, according to astrological theory, attracted to fire signs because of their ardent, passionate character, in general water signs will eventually find fire signs much too rude or outspoken to be comfortable with them.
Water signs are supposed to have strong adversity, even hatred, for air signs, whose personalities they regard as shallow, uncaring, cold, and excessively worldly, and air signs often find water signs as being weak and overly judgemental.
The Cardinal Zodiac Signs
The four cardinal signs are:
Aries – the Sun’s passage through which begins the spring in the northern hemisphere, and the autumn in the southern hemisphere; Aries (a Fire Sign) is said to be the Sign in which the Cardinal Quality is best-expressed since it is the first sign of the Zodiac and strongly associated with energy, enterprise and new beginnings. Aries is the most fiery of the fire signs.
Cancer – which begins the summer in the northern hemisphere, and the winter in the southern hemisphere; In Cancer (a Water Sign) the Cardinal Quality is said to be most expressed in the desire to nurture, mother and protect.
Libra – which begins the autumn in the northern hemisphere, and the spring in the southern hemisphere; According to astrology, Libra individuals (associated with the element of Air) tend to express their authoritative Cardinal Quality in a subtle and charming fashion.
Capricorn – which begins the winter in the northern hemisphere, and the summer in the southern hemisphere. Being an Earth Sign, Capricorn is thought to have somewhat more perseverance than the other three Cardinal Signs.

Sign Interpretations
Taurus – Sign Interpretation
Taurus is considered a negative, ‘feminine’ sign and as with Libra it is ruled by the planet Venus.
We can associate this sign with sublime simplicity. This sign appreciates and works at developing harmony, peace and love, as we might expect of a sign ruled by the planet Venus. Those born under this sign are the most sensuous of the zodiac. They are supremely comfortable in the physical world and enjoy all of its delights – good food, good wine, tender hugs from a loved one, the smell of new mown grass are the staff of life to them. Of course, the comforts of life cost money and Taureans understand this and plan carefully to achieve financial security. They value fine possessions and will work hard to ensure that they can have them. Quite often, hard work is not necessary for them – they will attract towards them the best in life quite easily because this is what they expect. Taureans have a very highly developed sense of beauty and texture and love to collect beautiful things.
Taureans have a talent for creating a happy, comfortable, peaceful and luxurious home. They very often prefer to live in the country, amidst beautiful scenery. They cope with the practicalities of life almost effortlessly. This sign is associated with cattle and fruit and very often, country-dwelling Taureans will become involved in the nurturing of one or the other. They love to create beautiful gardens, and will patiently nurture plants for years. This sign creates devoted marriage partners and love is central to them. They are affectionate, warm and loving with children and friends.
Earth Signs
In traditional Western astrology an earth sign is considered to be one of the earth triplicity, which is Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn.
Characteristics
Earth signs are traditionally associated with stability, solidarity, and practicality. According to astrological theory, they are realistic, cautious, hard-working, and dependable people with the ability to rise steadily to positions of power and control. However, at their worst, they are said to be highly materialistic, limited in outlook, and inhibited.
They are seen as negative, introverted, and not very sociable, owing to their focus on their own work and goals that tend to move them away from an active social life with others.
On a more positive note, earth signs are the most down-to-earth and reasonable out of all of the signs. They are not easily upset, and are good at using emotional self-control.
They are calm, cool and sane – which at times can make them very likeable among others. Astrologers say if the person’s moon or ascendant is in a fire or air sign, earth signs will produce a very well-liked personality that adds an easygoing and sociable charm to the down-to-earth and calm quality of the earth sign.
In judgement of friends, earth signs are said to be generally reserved and cautious yet fairly passionate, always committed to friends and partners. It is said earth signs tend to be most satisfied when they have accumulated material possessions rather than knowledge (air signs), personal security (water signs), or power (fire signs). Chief fault is fraud.
Earth is not normally prone to physical violence but, as in any given situation, there will be exceptions. Earth is mildly vengeful, liable to hold a grudge and tends to have a “my time will come” attitude. In general, revenge is apt to be by way of a “hit” in the pocketbook of the offender.
When angered, Earth is quick to express such in a verbal fashion with physical violence being used only as a last resort.
Taurus – Relations With Other Element Signs
Earth signs are said to be attracted to water signs because the two share qualities of acquisitiveness, retentiveness, and self-protectiveness.
The earth signs supposedly feel that the water signs will nourish them, whilst water signs supposedly feel that the earth signs offer them the emotional security they desperately want.
Whilst water is considered compatible with earth, water signs supposedly do not share much of the earth signs’ practicality and the earth signs supposedly often view water signs’ idealism as quite unrealistic, sometimes even fanciful.
Earth signs supposedly find air signs fascinating because they can be attracted by their strange thoughts and share their intellectual tendencies. However, earth signs supposedly believe air signs to be “up in the clouds” and trying to put forward ideas that never will work in practice.
Moreover, the severe detachment and insensitivity of the air signs are qualities the earth signs will eventually find tiresome and offensive. They will be drawn to fire signs, but soon view fire signs as simply too careless and forceful to be of any use to them.
The Fixed Zodiac Signs
In astrology, there are four fixed signs.
Fixed Signs are at the height of the four seasons and are associated with stamina, perseverance and strength and said to be, by nature, inert. However, they are also associated with inflexibility.
Individuals born under the four Fixed Signs of the Zodiac are thought to be determined, powerful, natural leaders, purposeful, reliable, loyal and self-confident but also occasionally stubborn and immovable, with a tendency to get stuck in ruts. They supposedly pursue their goals with dogged persistence and have a great power of concentration.
According to astrologers, Fixed Signs tend to direct their energies inward rather than outward.
The four Fixed Signs of the Zodiac are:
Taurus: Being an Earth sign it is said to be the most stable, patient and determined of all the Fixed Quality Signs.
Leo: As a Fixed Fire sign Leo individuals are said to burn with a greater intensity than the other two Fire Signs. They are supposedly much less impulsive than Aries natives and not as prone to “wanderlust” as Sagittarius subjects.
Scorpio: A Water sign, of the Fixed Quality, Scorpio is thought to deeply internalise emotions and pursue goals with keen insights, perception and much willpower.
Aquarius: An Air sign, while generally considered to be a spontaneous and erratic Sign, many astrologers also agree there is also a distinct lack of flexibility in Aquarius character due to their Fixed Quality.

Sign Interpretations
Sagittarius – Sign Interpretation
Sagittarius is the ninth astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the constellation of Sagittarius. Classed as a positive/masculine, extrovert sign its element is fire and its quality is mutable. Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter which is not only one of the most important gods in Roman mythology (ruler of the heavens) but also the planet that signifies good fortune in astrology.
The astrological symbol for Sagittarius has a dual meaning. The first and most common is that of a bow and arrow. The second and less well-known is that of an arrow lifting up a cross-shaped burden, representing the struggle the Sagittarius faces.
Those born under this sign are extremely broad minded, optimistic and confident. They are generous and understanding and totally uninterested in petty jealousies. Under this sign are born the philosophers of the zodiac. These people always have faith that things will turn out right in the end, no matter how bad things may be. Their positive thought patterns tend to attractive positive experiences to them. These people are honest to a fault, their outspokenness often alienates others.
It is essential for them to be independent as freedom is the staff of life to them. Travel and constant variety of activity is essential. Very often, Sagittarians will live abroad for a while or certainly value contact with foreign cultures as they consider this to be a valuable way of broadening the mind. The same motivation lies behind their desire to constantly expand their academic knowledge. They are often motivated to pass on their learning to others and can make very gifted teachers.
Other areas in which they can find success are in journalism, lecturing, politics or commercial enterprises in which they deal with other countries. It is not easy for a Sagittarius to settle down to marital and domestic routine. Infidelity is often an issue in a Sagittarius marriage as, for these people, there is always a new adventure beckoning around the corner. Sagittarians need to develop some of the cool logic of the opposite sign of Gemini, to balance their lofty idealism.
Fire Signs
In earlier astrology, the fire signs were often called bitter, in contrast with the “sweet” air signs. The three fire signs are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.
Characteristics
Fire signs represent the life-giving and vital force of the zodiac and are termed positive, extroverted, and are supposed to be active, creative, ingenious, dynamic, and highly energetic.
They are seen as the inventors, leaders, and pioneers within humanity, possessing an assertive quality that allows them to act upon the thoughts of others extremely quickly.
The worst qualities of the fire signs are seen as their tendency to be irresponsible, overbearing, impatient, and boastful to the point of hurting others’ feelings. They can also supposedly find it very hard to deal with detail because of their quest for the “big picture.”
Because astrology holds that fire signs are frequently highly outspoken, they can prove too much for more sensitive types of people who resist the criticism they can produce.
They are supposedly by nature emotionally intense and quick to anger if they disapprove but, unlike water signs, are also very quick to forgive and not sensitive to criticism.
In relationships, fire signs are generally considered to be extremely outgoing and passionate friends, but typically they are seen as requiring a great deal of love from their partner because of their assertive quality, and do not like their partner to have control over their romantic life and/or career.
Although highly extroverted, they do not possess the air signs’ ability to relate to varying viewpoints or different types of people, because they supposedly often see differences as conflicting with their own (often self-centred) desires.
Though said to be more passionate and committed under the right circumstance than air signs, fire signs are said to be barren signs. This is probably because their focus on being centre stage or on searching for truth intensely, combined with their often gregarious and friendly nature, means that they may have trouble committing themselves to a lifelong marriage.
Their quest for freedom is said to make fire signs supposedly always want to be freed from this type of burden.
In ancient times Mars, ruler of Aries & the Sun, ruler of Leo also were described to be sterile in nature because of their associations with heat, anger & masculinity. Chief fault is deceit.
Fire is determined, spiteful, short-tempered and vengeful. When angered, Fire will go to almost any extreme necessary to get revenge…and such revenge will, more often than not, be at the moment of the anger, after which it is soon forgotten with no harbouring of any grudge.
Fire is prone to deliberately and openly do things which will irritate others to the point of anger. Fire is straight-forward and has no reservations about hurting the feelings of others…prone to inflict both physical and mental pain.
Sagittarius – Relations With Other Element Signs
Fire signs are supposedly impatient with less extroverted people, especially earth signs, who they believe are extremely manipulative and will smother the fire of life.
They are believed to resent the earth signs’ slowness, plotting and preoccupation with detail, and hate the way they pin others down.
They supposedly can be attracted to water signs’ passion and intensity, but generally find water signs too secretive – in fact to the point of seeing the water signs’ sensitivity as utterly dishonest and deliberately deceitful.
They might envy the water signs’ ability to summon strength from emotions rather than through effort, their general means of acquiring power.
Air signs, on the other hand, are seen by the fire signs as able to provide them with concrete ideas to help them develop their ideals. Because air signs share their gregarious, extroverted quality, fire signs are comfortable with them. However, they supposedly do not have the patience to analyse as many possibilities as the air signs would like, so they supposedly act more quickly than air signs might wish.
The Mutable Zodiac Signs
In astrology, the mutable signs (also called common signs or bicorporal or double-bodied signs) are a subgroup of the zodiac.
They are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. The mutable signs straddle two temperate zone seasons, encompassing an inherent duality in its symbolism.
Gemini: – between the spring and summer seasons. As an air sign of the mutable quality, Gemini individuals are said to have the best communication skills of all the signs of the Zodiac. Many astrologers also believe Gemini to be the sign in which the duality associated with the mutable quality is most clearly defined. Gemini, because its symbol is that of the twins, indicates an individual who quite often has a duality of purpose, feeling that he or she has two separate destinies that must be pursued before feeling fulfilled as a human being.
Virgo: – between the summer and autumn seasons. A mutable sign of the element of Earth, Virgo is strongly associated with precision, detail, research and the preservation of health. The mutable metaphor may seem to fall short when applied to Virgo, which does not appear to be a sign with much duality at all. This may be because it is viewed from a literal sense as “The Virgin” in the sense of having not actually had sexual intercourse, rather than in the sense of a Maiden; some one who is ready for sexual intercourse, adult romantic relationships, marriage etc. (relationships beyond the self being a core concern of the following sign Libra.
Virgo is considered mutable because of their flexibility in filling for other people, their reliability, and ability to work and think in the spur of moment. Also, there is a distinct lack of stubbornness in Virgo in comparison to the other earth signs. They are happy and can adapt well into most positions, without necessarily wanting leadership. As such Virgo represents an archetype of transition, and its bicorporal forms are based more on age/initiation rather than across species as per Sagittarius, or in two bodies or paths as with Pisces and Gemini; The Child/Adult; Innocence/Experience etc. Virgos are said to rule the earth best, with the most grace, as compared with the other mutable signs
Sagittarius: – between the autumn and winter seasons. A fiery mutable quality sign, Sagittarius is associated with travel and learning. Sagittarius is half-man, half-animal, although this definition tended to overlap into the areas of human signs vs. bestial signs. Nevertheless, Sagittarius’ lofty and intellectual nature, deriving from its ruler, Jupiter, does co-exist with a Zeus-like moral short-sightedness when it comes to fidelity in relationships.
Pisces: – between the winter and spring seasons. Pisces individuals are said to express their mutable duality in an emotional manner characteristic of water signs, fluctuating from one emotional extreme to the other. The symbol of Pisces is that of two fish swimming in opposite currents to one another. Quite often individuals who are strongly influenced by Pisces feel a deep frustration in their lives because they are being pulled in two opposing directions at the same time. Some individuals will try to stick with one path and others will try to maintain both paths, which is often unrealistic. Others try to maintain one path, but periodically veer onto the other path.

Sign Interpretations
Leo – Sign Interpretation
Leo is the fifth astrological sign of the Zodiac, originating from the constellation of Leo, and is found in the eastern sky. It is a “masculine”, positive (extrovert) sign and is also considered a fire sign. It is one of the four fixed signs and is ruled by the Sun.
Leos are majestic. They have a natural ability to command respect and love from others. It is their generosity, warmth and innate heroism which is so attractive. A Leo will have a natural command of any situation and is therefore very talented in an executive position. Their integrity is absolute and because of this they lack the ability to manipulate. They are always open and frank, rather naïvely thinking that it is best to tell the truth. Their frankness can annoy others.
There is an innocence and playfulness in Leos which comes from their love of life and their zest for getting the most out of every experience. It is important for a Leo to have children and also to be creative on the mental plain. Their own children adore their ready sense of fun. Leos have huge hearts and can be easily hurt by rejection or rebuffs. Their main drive is to share their affection and love with other people. They are fiery and passionate in love and capable of inspiring those around them to great heights.
Leos always feel that they have excellent advice to give others but this will often be misinterpreted as arrogance and can alienate people. They are very trusting and will be immensely faithful and loyal once they have chosen a partner. Betrayal is devastating for them because they give themselves so completely. Leos also adore pleasure for its own sake; any kind of entertainment or celebration makes them feel really alive.

Leo – Relations With Other Element Signs
Scorpio: A Water sign, of the Fixed Quality, Scorpio is thought to deeply internalize emotions and pursue goals with keen insights, perception and much willpower.
Aquarius: An Air sign, while generally considered to be a spontaneous and erratic Sign, many astrologers also agree there is also a distinct lack of flexibility in Aquarius character due to their Fixed Quality.

Sign Interpretations
Aries – Sign Interpretation
Being the first sign of the zodiac it is associated with new beginnings and creativity. The Aries individual loves new challenges and likes to take risks and find new adventures. Mars is the ruler of this sign and Aries people are natural leaders and often regard life as a battle. They are always competitive, brave and confident.
Aries individuals are superb at beginning projects but will often fail to carry them through and delegation is their speciality. Many great leaders and pioneers were born under this sign. They very often excel in sports too and, as they are not afraid to court danger, they are very accident prone.
Aries individuals do need to work very hard at seeing another’s point of view. Their tempers are furious and they find it almost impossible to compromise on issues about which they feel strongly. They are helpless at dealing with the mundane and unpleasant tasks of life. Naturally undemanding and aggressive, Aries needs to work at developing a few of the qualities of its opposite sign, Libra which is so good at gracious compromise.

Aquarius – Sign Interpretation
Aquarians are gifted thinkers and their intuitions place them way ahead of their time. They are humanitarian and motivated in all they do by the desire to make the world a better place. These individuals love to work in a group and they love their work if it gives them the opportunity to express original ideas.
Sometimes, Aquarians are seen as eccentric and rebellious – this occurs when they do not have an appropriate outlet for their original ideas. Aquarians need to feel free to do what they want to do whenever they wish. They are quite stubborn about having their own time and territory and for this reason they can be difficult to live with. Nevertheless, in family life they are loyal and always live up to their responsibilities. They do need to remember that their loved ones want to be treated in a special way rather than with the same tolerance and affection as anyone who comes into their orbit.
Friendship is the Aquarian’s great talent. They are likely to have friends from all walks of life and enjoy sharing their interests and ideas with them. Aquarians are often attracted to working for themselves as it gives them immense satisfaction to attain their own ideals.
Their work must be creative and yet of use to others. They are often inclined to get involved in campaigns to alleviate suffering, inequality or pollution. The detached Aquarius would benefit from adopting some of the passion and loving warmth of the opposite sign of Leo.
Air Signs
In astrology, the air signs consist of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. They are often called “sweet” in comparison with the “bitter” fire signs.
Characteristics
According to astrological theory, air signs are the talkers and communicators of the zodiac. Typically they are supposed to be intellectual, analytical, articulate, and versatile – able to discuss just about any topic.
Air signs are also seen as the masters of social graces because they enjoy socializing and are very good at “small talk.” They are often seen as so objective that they are unable to be practical and realistic.
Some believe that air signs are supposed to be so changeable they will not stay anywhere for any length of time, and so restless they have trouble with serious concentration on any single job they might be required to carry out, but when need be are capable tapping into a reserve of willpower to get their negative obligations over with.
Air signs’ role is seen as providing the ideas that make the future different from the past, whereas fire signs carry out the actions necessary for this. Air signs continually thirst for interaction and view every experience as a potential opportunity for fun, education and growth as a person.
In human relationships, air signs are said to be gregarious and extroverted, often attracting friends very willingly and easily with their charm and ability to communicate. However, air signs are believed to be lacking in passion and unable to form strong, lasting relationships; astrologers believe few air sign people are able to have a single marriage, for they are said to be as apt to try out new people as new ideas.
On the other hand, they’re usually good at compromising time and space, and given enough leeway from their partners, this helps to keep them from feeling ‘trapped’ in an old relationship.
They are also thought to be extremely lacking in emotional depth because they tend to intellectualise their feelings and generally want to avoid difficult obstacles that might be needed to hold a partnership together.
Air is generally good and societally decent, but can be crafty, underhanded and ingenious when it comes to evil — though not prone to physical violence. Chief fault is trickery, when need be, they can become very convincing liars in order to get what they want.
At their worst, Air can be fault-finding, mean-spiritedness, gossipy and grudging. Air is swift to express opinions and is more opinionated than most. Air is slow to verbally express anger and physical violence is not generally a first choice in terms of an attack.
Aquarius – Relations With Other Element Signs
Air signs are seen as complementary to fire signs because they provide the ideas that allow the fire signs to carry out their action. However, it is often thought that fire signs are too flagrant and impatient for the air signs to tolerate permanently.
Air signs more or less understand earth signs because they share the same basic rational and objective nature. However, whilst air signs admire earth signs’ will to achieve, they find them too timid, pessimistic, undemonstrative, and cautious; the earth signs, though attracted by the air signs’ unique thoughts, find them overwhelmingly unrealistic and flippant.
Water signs are believed to be much too passionate and emotionally deep for air signs’ flighty, flirtatious nature; indeed, astrology suggests that air signs hate water signs for being too subjective, secretive, illogical and lose respect for them when they come to the belief that the Water signs are unintelligent, and later become astounded by their deductive powers.
For their part, water signs supposedly deride air signs as emotionally shallow, excessively concerned with worldly pleasure, and uncaring towards others, though sometimes an air sign can balance out the traits of a water sign (thus creating a great friendship).
Air signs will find themselves most compatible with fire signs, who share similar traits of being positive, extroverted, outgoing, and fun-loving.
Fire signs may not be as objective as air signs, as air signs may not be as passionate as fire signs, but they can generally adapt to each other’s ways, and find they have a lot of different traits to offer in fulfilling one another.

Gemini – Sign Interpretation
Geminis prefer fast changing circumstances, constant stimulation and ever new experiences. The wit and charm of these people makes them popular socially, though they can be cool and lacking in sympathy in more intimate situations.
In love, these people are flirtatious and excitable but they can be fickle and quickly move on to someone who is more superficially attractive. They will not tolerate possessiveness in a long term partner. Gemini people are easily bored. Their minds are constantly on the go and looking for something new to order and analyse. They are ideally suited to journalism, the legal profession, the transport industry or any work in which their mind can be constantly stimulated and they can use their excellent communicative abilities.
Mercury, the ruling planet of Gemini, rules everything relating to our mental skills, communication, thinking patterns, reasoning, intelligence, adaptability and variability. Mercury also governs schooling and education; the immediate environment of neighbours, siblings and cousins; transport over short distances; messages and forms of communication such as post, email and telephone, newspapers, journalism and writing, information gathering skills, and physical dexterity.

Libra – Sign Interpretation
Libra is the sign of marriage and partnership and above all a person born under this sign seeks harmony.
A Libran’s approach to life is essentially intellectual and they are capable of great mental detachment yet they are always charming and popular socially. These people always want to please other people and be liked by them. It is quite easy for Librans to put their own opinions, needs and ambitions on hold in order to fit in with those around them. They are constantly trying to find a balance in life and do this by means of their associations with others. Their ability to see both sides of an issue and their strong sense of justice make it very difficult for Librans to actually make a decision or commit themselves.
Librans are very suited to careers in law, public relations and diplomacy. In these areas, they can use their considerable intellect and analytical ability and are capable of making judgements in a detached and objective way.
Librans may also be attracted to careers in the arts or selling luxury goods where they can use their strong sense of colour and form. In marriage, the Librans’ natural ability to mediate and compromise is a great virtue. They will create a gracious home.
Cultivation of some of the qualities of their opposite sign, Aries, like decisive action and courage, would enable Librans to approach life with a greater sense of purpose and deal with themselves and others more honestly.
Libra – Relations With Other Element Signs
